The Bulldogs Are Back!

MSU vs. Alcorn State will be our first home game of the season on Saturday, September 7 at 2:30 p.m.

I had like 30 seconds to myself, so I decided to update the blog!  :)

I feel like it has been YEARS since we saw everyone!  I cannot wait to see you all!

So, as usual, let's talk about the most important thing...THE TAILGATE!  Since game time is at 2:30, we will have lots of time to tailgate.  Tents will be set up on Friday and I'm sure we will be out there bright and early Saturday morning.  So, come one, come all.

Post your food ideas.

Can't wait to meet our newest little Bulldog, Miss Pfeiffer Adams!  :)

See you all in a few weeks!  Go Bulldogs!

MSU vs. Arkansas

I cannot believe this season is almost over!  It has been a pretty good one, despite the last few games...

MSU will play Arkansas Saturday, November 17 at 11:21 a.m.  The weather looks like football weather!  Highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s!

As for the most important part...the FOOD!

Dave and Janet:  Gumbo
Dee and Martha:  White Chicken Chili
Bob and Anne:  Rice, Mini Pecan Pies

That is all I have for now.  Can't wait to see everyone at the tailgate and if you know what you want to bring, post on here or email me at tjw31651@aol.com!

Go Bulldogs!

MSU vs. Texas A&M- Saturday, November 3

Hey Guys!

So sorry I never wrote a blog for last game...got super sick and forgot all about it!  Heard the tailgate was a blast though!

Anyways...the Shearer household is well for now! :)  Can't wait to see our Bulldogs in action this weekend vs. Texas A&M!

Game time is 11 a.m. and the weather is supposed to be B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!!  Highs in the mid 70s!

So...for food...we were thinking something light before the game (breakfast items) and then we will do bigger items and the majority of the food for after.

As of right now, this is what I know...

Bob and Anne: Biscuits (before game) and Sliced Brisket (after game)

That is it for now. Haha.  Post what you would like to bring.  I know we will have a few guests from Texas at our tailgate and Brett Sanders will be with us as well (Martha and Dee's oldest son).

Should be a blast!  Can't wait to see everyone!  Go Bulldogs!
If you can't post on here, email me at tjw31651@aol.com and I will post for you!

MSU vs. University of Tennessee

The Bulldogs are 5-0!!!!!!!!  I can't believe I am even typing this.  We claim Luke as the good luck charm!  :)  Such an exciting season so far!

Now, for the UT game.  This is going to be a BIG game and a BIG tailgate.

Game time is a 8:00 p.m., so that will make for one long day and one late night!  The weather is supposed to be gorgeous that day, but will probably turn a little chilly at night.

Dee and Martha will be bringing guests, Vaughan Holland (Bill's sister) and her family will be coming and I am sure others will be bringing guests to this one as well.  So, let's say to plan on around 30 people at this one!

Food:
- Dee and Martha:  chicken and steak kabobs
- Bob and Anne:  chicken tenders
- Bill and Jenny:  pasta salad and chocolate chip/walnut cookies

Not sure when the tailgate will be set up, but I am sure it will be after lunchtime sometime.  We are planning on packing everything up BEFORE the game too, just so we don't have to worry about it at like 11:30 that night.

Post what you want to bring.  As always, if you can't post, email me at tjw31651@aol.com and let me know!  See everyone next weekend!  Go Bulldogs!

MSU vs. South Alabama

Bulldogs are 3-0!  Can you believe this?  What an incredible season so far.  Hopefully, we can make a it 4-0 this weekend when we play South Alabama. I don't think we have EVER had a record this good since I became a MSU fan...and this is my 12th season cheering on my Bulldogs!

MSU will play South Alabama on Saturday, September 22 at 6 p.m. in Starkville, so put on your tailgating pants!  Not sure what the plan is on setup time, but I am guessing around noon or 1 o'clock.  As of right now, weather is partly cloudy, high of 87 and low of 58.  So...it looks like it will be pretty nice.  Not too hot.

So, the important part, the food...

Bob and Anne:  Pork tenderloin/hawaiian bread rolls with all the fixings!

That's all I got for now.  haha.  Post on here if you know what you are bringing or you can email me at tjw31651@aol.com and I will post for you.

Hopefully we will see you all Saturday! Go Bulldogs!

Jenny

P.S. If you have any recipes you want to send in or any recipes you want to get, let me know.  We can post it on the website.  Blake/or Stephanie Adams...send me that cajun cornbread recipe.  That was quite tasty at the last game and I know several people wanted that recipe.  Thanks!

MSU vs. Auburn

What an amazing beginning to the season!  The Bulldogs had a HUGE win over Jackson State!  I cannot wait to see how they match up against their first SEC school next weekend!

The Auburn game will be Saturday, September 8 at 11 a.m.

As what was discussed at the tailgate this weekend, we will have breakfast BEFORE the game and plan to have the bigger tailgate AFTER the game (around 2 p.m.)

Food Items...
Bob and Anne: cheese grits, burger condiments, buns and burgers (from the community fund)
Dee and Martha: Ramen Slaw (my favorite!)
Mike and Lynn:  Krispy Kreme donuts and german potato salad
Dave and Janet: baked beans
Jamie and Jodie: breakfast  casserole

Looks like it is going to be a great tailgate...as usual!  As of today, the weather is going to be in the high 80s and a chance of rain, but we know how that can change!

Bill and I will be bring our sweet Luke to his first tailgate next weekend!  Cannot wait for him to meet our MSU family! We missed everyone this weekend!

Post what you are bringing or you can email me at tjw31651@aol.com if you cannot post.  Everyone have a wonderful week and we will see you next Saturday for some MSU football fun!

MSU vs. Jackson State- September 1 @ 6 p.m.

It's that time of year again!  The Bulldogs will take to the field on Saturday, September 1 vs. Jackson State University.  The game will begin at 6 p.m.

As usual, the most important part...the tailgate!  I have not discussed with anyone about a main dish, so all comments/emails are welcome!  Let us know what you plan to bring!

Bill and I will not be at the season opener this year because we will be in Memphis introducing our sweet little addition to my family.  We will be at the Auburn game and cannot wait for our tailgate family to meet our little guy!

Tents can now be set up @ 4 p.m. on FRIDAY.  So, if you are in town, Bob will be there in his usual spot waiting to set up the tent!

As for Saturday, I am guessing the tailgate will be up and running around lunchtime...

If you cannot post on this blog for some reason, email me at tjw31651@aol.com and I can get your comments posted for you.  See everyone soon!  Go Bulldogs! #HailState

Super Bulldog Weekend 2012

Hey Guys,
Hope everyone has had a great year so far!  I wanted to make a quick post to update everyone on what is going on over the next few months in Starkvegas!

Super Bulldog Weekend has been scheduled for April 19-22.  Sugarland is also scheduled to play after the Spring Game.  You have to buy tickets this year for the game and the concert will take place afterwards.  If you would like to go, visit hailstate.com/tickets for more info. Tickets start at $25 for the general public and $15 for students.

Cotton District Arts and Food Festival will also take place Saturday, April 21.  It seems like they have really added on to this since we went to school at MSU.   Check it out...http://starkvillearts.org/events/cdaf.html

We may/may not set up a tailgate tent in the Junction (or our home spot) and hang out on Saturday if the weather is nice!  If you are going, let me know and we can meet up! Go Bulldogs!       ~Jenny

P.S.  Also wanted to make the official BULLDOG EATS ANNOUNCEMENT to all our tailgating buddies...most of your know, but just in case...we will have a new little Bulldog at the tailgates next year!  Bill and I are expecting a baby boy in late June!  :)

Egg Bowl 2011

As I sit and watch our Bulldogs get beat by Arkansas, I decided to start planning out next big win and tailgate! So, let's start the discussion for next weekend...

Saturday, November 26, we will go up against the Ole Miss Rebels in Starkville.   Game time is at 6 p.m. and as of right now, weather is high of 68 degrees and low of 45 degrees.

From what I have gathered, we are going to have quite a few extra people at the tailgate....since it is Thanksgiving.  So, let's plan for around 30.

As usual, if you know what you want to bring, post on here or email me at tjw31651@aol.com. Last tailgate had some AMAZING FOOD!

Tailgate Food for Egg Bowl:
- Bill and Jenny:  Stuffed jalapeno peppers

I will see everyone next weekend!  Go Bulldogs!!!

MSU vs. Alabama: November 12

FOOD UPDATE:
Mike and Lynn Chambers:  Catfish filets
Bill and Jenny Shearer: Pepper and Onion Relish dip w/Wheat thins and....?

I have been a horrible blogger/fan this football season!  However, I will be back in full force this weekend!  No more bailing on my Bulldogs!

Saturday, November 12, we will go up against Alabama.  This is going to be a night game, so bring your warm clothes just in case! The weather says a high of 68 degrees and a low of 46 degrees...so dress in layers!  Game is at 6:45 p.m. Because of daylight savings, the sun will be down and it will be dark and cold!!! The website says "True Maroon" on this game, but I am not quite sure what this means.  Maybe wear maroon??  I don't know, but I will wear my Bulldog gear like always!

As for the tailgate...these are my favorite!  We will do the majority, if not all of our tailgating BEFORE the game because it will be a late one.  I have not discussed/heard about the main dish situation, so all comments/opinions are welcome.

When you know what you want to bring, post it on the blog or email me at TJW31651@aol.com and I will post it for you! Have a fabulous week and I hope to see everyone there! Go Bulldogs!

One last thing...we will probably be setting up on Saturday around noon.  That gives us a nice long day to enjoy each other's company and eat!  Bill and I will also be bringing BAGGO!  I gave him this for Christmas last year and we both just realized it has been sitting in our garage all year when it should have been out at our tailgate!

P.S.  Bob and Anne may be out again this week, so if anyone can get there on Friday to set up the tents, please let me know.  Bill and I will be coming on Friday, but we will NOT make it by 5.  We will likely pull in around 6 if we leave right after I get home from school.

Homecoming

This is Bill updating the Blog this week.  (As evidenced by the lack of all the cool extras like the gameday helmets.)  Anyway, Jenny will be bailing on us for Mistletoe Marketplace (booooooo) so I'm going to try to fill in for her.  (I retract that booooo because I'm really glad her Mom comes into town to go with her so I can get off the hook for it.)

The weather looks like it could be perfect.  Not to jinx it, but we're looking at the low 70s for the prime tailgate time and then getting down in the forties throughout the game.  As for the game...  hmmm.  Let's just say there will more than likely be plenty of people sticking around the tailgate and not going into Davis Wade.  There's a pretty big game that starts at 7 in Tuscaloosa, and we'll have it on the TV.

Bob is still recovering from his surgery, and doing better and better each day.  He also got a clean pathology report!  However, he's not ready to make a road trip, so he and Anne will be staying in Jackson.  I also think Dee and Martha are still across the pond.  I'll be headed up to Starkville in time to get our spot reserved.  Last I talked to him, Blake and Stephanie were coming into town on Friday, so I'll just be hanging out with the tents and a cooler until they get there and can help me set them up.  Beats sitting at a desk on Friday afternoon.

As for food... I have absolutely no idea what I'm bringing or what anyone else is bringing.  Post whatever you'd like to bring and we'll all enjoy it.  As for when to get out there?  Noon at the latest for me.  Probably a little earlier so I can enjoy the early SEC game in the great weather.

MSU vs. South Carolina- Saturday, October 15

*** FOOD UPDATE as of 10/8/11:
- Blake and Stephanie Adams : Sausage Balls and 7-layer dip
- Bill and Jenny Shearer: biscuits/sausage gravy and something else :)
- Bob and Anne Shearer:  Cheese Grits/mini pecan pies

I wanted to go ahead and get this blog going for the MSU vs. South Carolina game...my October is going to be super busy!  We are supposed to wear Maroon and White---depending on your section.
Here is what I got from MSU website: Upper WEST side and Lower EAST side (suites and club level included) wear MAROON! Lower WEST and Upper EAST wear WHITE!

Game time is early!  Looks like we will kick off at 11:21 a.m.  Hopefully the weather is going to stay as gorgeous as it has been here la
tely!  I am thinking we will probably want to have a few breakfast items that we can quickly grab before going in the game, as well as a few breakfast cocktails! :)

Then, we can come back after our WIN against South Carolina and tailgate all afternoon.

So...food for the morning and food for the afternoon...

What is everyone wanting to bring?  Just post it here!

If you cannot post on the blog, just email me at tjw31651@aol.com and I will update it for you!  See you in a few weeks!  Go Bulldogs!

MSU vs. Louisiana Tech

Our next game will be this Saturday, September 24 vs. Louisiana Tech!  Hopefully our Bulldogs will pull out a victory with this one.  Looks like another evening game...this one is at 6 p.m.  I hear the weather is supposed to be amazing!!!

Bill and I will not be attending this game (I promise I will be at the next one!) because we are going to Memphis to attend my 10 year high school reunion.  I feel so old.  :)

So...I am posting all that I know on the blog and you guys can take it from there.

By the way...when I finally get to come to a game, it will be my birthday weekend, so I will be ready to celebrate!

As for the tailgate for this game...

Bob and Anne - hamburgers and buns (need someone to bring the condiments--lettuce, onion, tomato, etc.)

That's all I have for now.  Please post what you want to bring and I will update the blog closer to game day.  Have a fabulous week!  Go Bulldogs!

MSU vs. Arkansas

As we come to an end of this incredible football season, all I can say is WOW!  What an amazing season we have had!  We've had awesome tailgates so far, so lets make this last one the best yet!

On Saturday, November 20 at 6:00 p.m., we will play our final home game vs. University of Arkansas in Starkville!  As of today, the weather looks superb!  High of 68 degrees and low of 43 degrees!  Perfect during the day and a little chilly at night.  Couldn't ask for better football weather!  Bring a blanket!

Now let's discuss the most important part...the FOOD:

I know we are going to have a few extra at the tailgate, so let's plans for about 30 people at this one.

This is what I have heard, so please correct me if I am wrong...
***UPDATE***
Mike and Lynn Chambers: Memphis Ribs
Jodie and Jamie Osbirn: Pork Shoulder and buns
Dee and Martha Smelley: White Chicken Chili

MSU vs. Kentucky- Saturday, October 30

I can't believe what an amazing season we are having!!!  Our Bulldogs are doing such a great job (not really saying they did such a great job last game, but at least it was a win!) :)

As for the Kentucky game...

Bill and I will be in Memphis at a wedding this weekend, so we will not be here for this game, however, I will still update the blog if needed, so email me if you cannot post on the blog and I will update for you. My email is TJW31651@aol.com. Please forward to who needs this.

Kentucky game will take place on Saturday, October 30 at 6 p.m.  Looks like the weather will be amazing!  Highs in low 70's and Lows in high 40's, so dress for the game!!!

MSU vs. UAB- Homecoming!

This year we will play UAB for Homecoming on Saturday, October 23 at 6 p.m.  This means we will probably set-up around noon. This is another late afternoon game, so we will definitely be doing our pre-game tailgate!

Hopefully we will luck out with the weather like we have been! Right now high of 84 and low of 56!

Let's discuss the most important part...FOOD!

Dave and Janet: Seafood Gumbo with rice and bread
Chambers: Catfish Filets
Bill and Jenny: Cookies and a side
Melissa: candy corn bark

Post any comments/suggestions about what you want to bring!

See you all in a few weeks!!

If you cannot post to this blog, please email me at TJW31651@aol.com and I will post for you!  Go Bulldogs!

MSU vs. Alcorn State- Saturday, October 2

What an incredible game we had against Georgia!!!  Can't wait to see us win again this weekend when we play Alcorn State!

The weather is supposed to be incredible for this game.  Highs in the UPPER 70's and lows in the LOW 50's with ZERO percent chance of rain!  Finally, football weather!!!

Kick-off for this weekend is at 11 a.m.  So...let's plan on setting up between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.

As for food, let's discuss...

By the way...the food at the Georgia game was OUTSTANDING!  I don't think there was anything left by the end of the game!

As for Alcorn State...
We need something to eat BEFORE the game, but we will definitely need lunch AFTER the game since I am sure most will want to hang out, visit and watch a little football after we beat Alcorn State!  So...if you want to plan on bringing a little something for breakfast and then a little something for lunch, that would be great!  Just remember...the majority of people will be coming to the tailgate after the game.

Here are a few ideas for BEFORE the game...Chicken/Sausage biscuits from Chick-fil-a, McDonalds, or Bojangles, the makings for bloody marys/or mimosas, donuts, muffins, sausage balls, breakfast casseroels, etc.  Bring whatever you want.

As for AFTER the game, we could always grill something out or order something from McArthur Hall.  Either is fine.  What do you guys think?  We could look into ordering something and come back with a price/person.

***UPDATED***
This is what people have volunteered for so far...

- Anne and Bob: Cheese Grits
- Cameron and Brooks: Donuts/Pastries (before game), cookies (after game)
- Mr. Rainey: Smoke Salmon
- Bill and Jenny: Chili
- Dee and Martha: Jumbo Hotdogs and Buns
FYI...if you know someone at our tailgate that would like to be included in this blog, just let me know their email address and I can add them to the list, so that they can be included in our tailgate gameday discussions.

If you cannot post on this blog, just email me back at TJW31651@aol.com and I will post for you!  Can't wait to see everyone Saturday.  Go Bulldogs!

MSU vs. Georgia

The last two games were a little tough to watch, but all we can do is move forward!  Let's discuss Georgia for Saturday, September 25 at 6 p.m.  Another night game!  We are really getting lucky!

The WEST side will wear Maroon and the EAST side is in white for this game! If you are on the side with the MSU football team in front of you, you are on the WEST side.

As for the food...any ideas as to what we can do??? Let's discuss and I will post once we decide!

According to the forecast right now, it looks like it will be another hot one (90's), so let's take that into consideration.  Also, if anyone wants to plug in a crock-pot, we have that capability now!

UPDATE:
Bob and Anne are going to cook several pork tenderloins and bring rolls for sandwiches.

Vaughan and Drew Holland (Bill's sister and husband) are also coming to the Georgia game and are going to bring a cookie cake.

That's all I have for now!

MSU vs. Auburn

What a way to start our season!  49-7 Mississippi State...I love the way that sounds.  We had an amazing time at our first tailgate AND game! The food, the people, the weather and the game all turned out perfectly for our first game.  Let's pray we get that same combination for the rest of the season!

Let's discuss the Auburn game...
Kick-off is at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 9.  This game is a Maroon Out, so wear your maroon!  I don't know about you, but I was pretty impressed with all the people that turned out in their white shirts.  I barely saw anyone that wasn't dressed in white!

According to campus rules, we can start setting up our tailgate at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. So, I am sure we will be out there before that time in order to get our spot!

As for the food, we have ordered Grilled BBQ Chicken for 30 from McArthur Hall.  Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think we have that set up to be delivered to our tailgate at 3 p.m.  Everyone else, bring sides or whatever to go along with that.

Bob bought a new and bigger generator this year with 4 electrical outlets, so we do have capabilities to run crock pots if needed.  This might open up a few new food ideas for the season.

We will see everyone in 4 short days!

Reply to this post with what you want to bring.

P.S.  Those of you that normally reply to our posts, could you please reply and let the others know how you do it.  I talked to a few people who were confused on how to reply.  I would give instructions, but since I am the creator, I have a feeling that my way of doing it is a little different.   Thanks!

Also, if you know of anyone who wants to get this blog, give me their email address!  To see all the images in this blog, go to http://www.bulldogeats.blogspot.com/

It's that time of year again...

I know I am not the only one who is excited about football season this year! I have heard from all around that we need to get this blog up and going again, so here you go!

The first game of the season is against Memphis! It is true that my heart bleeds blue during basketball season, BUT Maroon and White in the fall!!! This should be a great game because kickoff is not until 6 p.m.

Therefore, set-up on Saturday around 11:30-Noon in our same place! I'm sure that there will be some there before that time if you would like to go earlier.

We will have the tents set up Friday night at 5...or before. We have to make sure we boot anyone out of the way that is even thinking about setting up in our place! :) Those of you who would like to join on Friday for tent set-up, bring a chair and a cooler. You know how it's done!

As for food...

Bill and I have talked to a couple people about what we should have. We were thinking as a main dish, hotdogs/sausage dogs/hamburgers. We will have plenty of time to cook before the game. Mr. Smelley...bring your grill!

I think we have plenty of plates, cups, napkins, silverware, etc. I will double check, but don't worry about any of that stuff for now. I will post on here if we need some.

As for the rest of the food...bring something that will be able to sit in the hot weather for a long period of time. It's still too early to tell, but if the weather continues on the road it has been on, dress cool and wear lots of sunscreen because it is going to be hot!!! Depending on the side you sit on, at least half the stadium will be in the shade at kickoff, so that is a plus!

Chips, Dips, Fruit, Veggies, Sweets, etc. are always welcome!

POST WHAT YOU WANT TO BRING and if you have any ideas for the tailgate, blog, etc!

Once again, I am super excited to see everyone in 2 short weeks! Go Bulldogs!

Egg Bowl-- MSU vs. Ole Miss November 28

I cannot believe we are finally to our last home game of the year! It's going to be a big one. Since Ole Miss just came off a win from LSU, they have really big heads and we need to knock their confidence level down a bit!

Game time is at 11:30 a.m., so we will probably do the tailgate after the game and maybe have a few little snacks before. Bloody Mary's and Mimosas might work! :)

As for the most important part...THE FOOD!
I know we are going to have several guests at this tailgate...I know of an extra 6 for sure (Woodruffs and Hollands). So, let's say 30 people to feed...maybe a few more...

If I overheard correctly last time:

Chambers- chili
Bob and Anne- hotdogs/buns/cornbread

Everyone else, bring whatever!!! Can't wait to see you all this weekend! Go Bulldogs and
Happy Thanksgiving!!! Hope everyone has a fabulous one!

P.S. Just checked the weather...high of 57 degrees and low of 37 degrees! Right now there is a ZERO PERCENT chance of rain!!! Looks like it will be a beautiful one! The place should be super dry too...it isn't supposed to rain all week after today!

Alabama Food Update

This is what we have so far...looks like it's going to turn out to be another fantastic tailgate!

Bob and Anne -- Burgers/Buns/Condiments and Dessert
Deuce-- Chicken Tenders
Cameron and Brooks-- Turkey/Rolls and Appetizer
Dee and Martha-- Brownies and Mississippi cavier
Bill and Jenny -- Pigs in a Blanket and cream cheese/salsa dip with Fritos

This is what we have so far!

I think we are pretty good on paper products and I know we are good on silverware! See everyone on Saturday!
