I cannot believe we are finally to our last home game of the year! It's going to be a big one. Since Ole Miss just came off a win from LSU, they have really big heads and we need to knock their confidence level down a bit!
Game time is at 11:30 a.m., so we will probably do the tailgate after the game and maybe have a few little snacks before. Bloody Mary's and Mimosas might work! :)
As for the most important part...THE FOOD!
I know we are going to have several guests at this tailgate...I know of an extra 6 for sure (Woodruffs and Hollands). So, let's say 30 people to feed...maybe a few more...
If I overheard correctly last time:
Chambers- chili
Bob and Anne- hotdogs/buns/cornbread
Everyone else, bring whatever!!! Can't wait to see you all this weekend! Go Bulldogs and
Happy Thanksgiving!!! Hope everyone has a fabulous one!
P.S. Just checked the weather...high of 57 degrees and low of 37 degrees! Right now there is a ZERO PERCENT chance of rain!!! Looks like it will be a beautiful one! The place should be super dry too...it isn't supposed to rain all week after today!

Alabama Game- November 14
Hello Everyone!
Only 2 more home games left! This Saturday is BAMA and they are undefeated, so let's pray the Bulldogs can break their streak! :)
Game time is 6 p.m. and it looks like it is going to be a pretty nice week in Starkville, so hopefully the weather will stay good for our tailgate. As of right now...weather for game day is cloudy with a high of 67 degrees, low of 55 degrees and only a 10 percent chance of rain. We've had good luck all season with the late games, so hopefully this will be the same.
As for food...
* Bob and Anne-- Hamburgers/Buns/Condiments and a dessert
* If anyone wants to bring another protein...chicken tenders, etc. that would be great. Anything we can munch on all day is good!
* Bill and Jenny --Dip and chips and appetizer of some sort
We heard campus is going to be crazy...they are trying to break the Florida game attendance record, so this should be a fun one! Let's meet around 12:30 - 1:00 for set up and a day full of food and fun!
I hate I missed the Florida game, but finally after 2 weeks of pneumonia, I think I am better, so I can't wait to see everyone. I take my big Math Praxis game day morning at 7:30 a.m. in Starkville, so say a little prayer for me! :)
Everyone can post a comment on what you think you want to bring and we will see you this weekend! Go Bulldogs!

Florida Tailgate- Sat., Oct. 24
Hey Everyone,
Sorry I haven't gotten something up, but have been really busy these past few weeks. We are going to have another all day tailgate this Saturday for the Florida game! I think the game starts at 6 p.m., so we can meet around 12 or 12:30. I know we will get there at 12 to set up. The weather looks like it will be absolutely beautiful and chilly at night, so bring something warm to wear to the game!
As for food for this tailgate...
Mike and Lynn: Fish
Bob and Anne: Pork Tenderloin
Bill and Jenny: Cream cheese Pinwheels and either a dip or dessert item
We are pretty set for silverware and paper products. Not sure how many people will be there, but plan on about 20.
Everyone else...bring whatever. Remember this is going to be a long tailgate, so bring stuff that can sit out most of the day!
Oh yeah, if anyone will be in Starkville on FRIDAY around 4:30, please go to the tailgate area to help Anne set up the tents. She is the only one who will be there on Friday, so she needs some help getting them up!
Can't wait to see everyone! Go Bulldogs!

Homecoming- Houston, Saturday, October 10
Hey Everyone...let's hope and pray we have as good of weather this coming weekend that we had at the Georgia Tech game.
We have decided to do a "Oktoberfest" style tailgate this weekend. That means bring out your best German style food! Just in case you can't think of anything besides beer, click HERE for a website that has several German recipes on it. Also, we do not discriminate against food that is non-German...so, don't feel pressured into bringing something that is German. All other food will be accepted! :)
The game is going to start at 11:30 a.m. and we are going to have another large crowd! So, feel free to bring breakfast-type food also. We will probably have stuff for Mimosas and Bloody Mary's as well. Not sure what time everyone is planning on getting to the tailgate, but let's say we could meet out there and set up around 9 or 930, snack on the breakfast drinks/food and then do the major eating after the game.
So far, here is a list of the food that people are bringing:
Smelleys' Friends- Bratwurst, buns, German Potato Salad
Dee and Martha-- red cabbage (rote kole) and pork tenderloins
Lynn and Mike--Krispy Kreme donuts (for before the game...or after if there are any left!)
As for everyone else...bring your favorite German dish or whatever you like! See you next weekend!
Leave a comment if you know what you are bringing. Thanks.

Georgia Tech Game- Saturday, October 3
Hey Everyone! By now, most of you know that ALL 4 of our tailgate tents were stolen on Saturday night after the LSU game! Really stinks! Bill and I went to Walmart today and bought a new tent (Deuce, Cameron and Brooks and Melissa split it with us) and Bob and Anne also bought a new tent. Both are the plain khaki color tops, but are really nice and more than half the cost of the MSU tops, so we will just have to decorate with the flags. The Chambers are also going to bring their tent for next weeks game and might be a permanent fixture at the tailgate! At least they will all still match..even if they are not maroon and white!
So...with the horrible weather, the disappointing game and the awful people that stole four of our freaking tailgate tents, this past weekend can be put in the "we don't want to remember this weekend" book!
On to bigger and better things...Georgia Tech tailgate. As we discussed at the Shearers' house this past weekend, we have decided to do Chili dogs/frito pies, etc. for next weeks game.
The game starts at 6:30 p.m. and the plan is to get out there around lunch time (noon-ish). We will have all day long to enjoy the beautiful weather (hopefully). Right now, high of 76 degrees with a 20% chance of rain, so cross your fingers!
Food List and Needs:
Chili-- Bill and Jenny Shearer
Buns, Ketchup, Mustard, relish--Lynn and Mike Chambers
Hotdogs--Di and Martha Smelley
Toppings (shredded cheese, sliced or diced jalapenos, diced onion, black olives, etc.)--Deuce
Crackers or French bread (to have with just chili)--??
Desserts--??
Appetizers--??
Fritos (for frito pies)--??
Veggies/Fruit--??
Just a few ideas. We also need to have bowls and spoons, which I think Bob and Anne have at the house already.
Any other food is great, too! There is never too many tasty treats to snack on...especially with us tailgating all day long.
We will also have plenty of people to visit with. I am not sure of an exact number, but I think we should expect around 30 people at the tailgate...maybe a few more. I will try to post on here when I find out how many people the Barnhills are bringing. It should be a ton of fun! Can't wait to see everyone next weekend.
Leave a post if you want to claim something to bring! Go Bulldogs!

Jackson State Tailgate
Hey Guys...had a ton of fun at the 1st tailgate! If anyone wants to send me their recipes, I can put them on here for all to have. A few of you asked for the sandwich recipe...here it is.
Anonymous Rolls
36 small dinner rolls (in foil pans---might have to buy the pans separately)
8 oz. sliced Swiss cheese
36 thin slices of smoked ham (or turkey)
2 sticks softened butter
2 Tbls. minced onion
4 Tbls. Poupon mustard
4 Tbls. Worcestershire sauce
5-6 Tbls. poppy seeds
Mix together butter, onion, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and poppy seeds. Slice open rolls and cover both sides with butter mixture. Layer ham and cheese. Put into aluminum pans. Wrap pans in foil and Bake for 30 minutes at 350'.
They can be frozen before baking. If so, put frozen rolls straight into preheated over and bake for an hour or until center is warm. We finished them off on the grill for a crispier sandwich! Great for tailgates and super easy. I made them on the Wednesday before the Saturday game and just put them in the freezer until we were ready to bake them.

Food Ideas...
Bill and I were thinking about bringing these yummy hot sandwiches, individually wrapped in aluminum foil, that you can heat up on the grill. I am going to cook them that morning and put them in a cooler to keep warm, but if someone wants them hotter or crispier, you can just put it on the grill. They are on small rolls with ham, cheese and a couple other ingredients. I also found a recipe for these awesome fat kid treats...you take a refrigerated pizza crust and stuff with cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, garlic and some other tasty things, then slice and bake. Looks amazing.
We figured that we could eat lunch before the game and dinner after, since we will still have a couple hours of daylight after the 2:30 game. What do you guys think?

Tailgate Time is Here!
I can't believe tailgate season is almost here! Um...I mean football season! :) We have talked about creating a website for years and now I finally have the time. Thanks to Melissa for thinking of the blog! Let's just make this a place we can come, share tailgate ideas and post recipes and pictures from past tailgates. The more comments you leave, the better. Let me know what else you would like me to add to this blog! The first game is Saturday, September 5 at 2:30 p.m. vs. Jackson State, so we need to start thinking of good food ideas! Let me know what you are bringing!
